Picture this: you’re chilling with your mates, and they always manage to introduce you to the most mind-blowing and unpredictable games. This week, they’ve brought out a real gem called Dice Thrones. Now, let me warn you right off the bat: attempting to learn this game while indulging in a few drinks is a recipe for chaos. It’s a rollercoaster ride of losses and a disregard for strategic thinking when it comes to rolling those dice.
Dice Thrones, the game that has captured our attention, currently boasts two seasons of heroic adventures. The more players and characters you involve, the more thrilling the experience becomes. Of course, we had to tweak a rule or two to keep things interesting. Instead of simply choosing your target, we decided to let fate decide. Trust me, it helps avoid players ganging up on certain individuals. In the end, we let the dice dictate our destiny, leaving us all on the edge of our seats.
Now, in one particularly hazy session, we even got our hands on the Marvel version of the game. In our slightly inebriated state, memories of that night remain a bit fuzzy, including which character I played. However, I distinctly recall trying out the Moon Elf, a personal favorite with their ethereal charm. Then there was the Shadow Thief, requiring craftiness and strategic finesse, especially when playing in teams. Oh, and who could forget the Barbarian? Unfortunately, I don’t remember much about that character, but the Pyromancer demanded some serious card shuffling skills. Trust me, you’ll need luck on your side for that one.
Let’s talk about the setup. Each character comes with a deck of cards, five dice, tokens, and a list of powers you’ll need to roll for. Don’t forget the HP card and CP card too. Every turn grants you a CP and a card draw. Now, these cards have varying CP costs, so you’ll have to spend your precious CP wisely. Will you use it for defense, power upgrades, or maybe even deal some damage? Each character has its own set of rules, instead of me explaining, they are easily download from their website (link provided at the end).
Now, I won’t lie—the game’s instructions are straightforward and easy to read. You typically get three rolls, although that number can be reduced to two in certain situations. Here’s a tip I discovered: your first roll sets the tone for the game. It’s a tantalizing gamble, as your dice have the power to deliver a devastating blow or merely annoy your opponents. It all depends on what you believe you can achieve with that initial toss.
Between my mates, they’ve managed to collect all sixteen heroes available. As for me, I’ve decided to exercise some self-control and wait until autumn to grab the Santa vs. Krampus edition. And who knows? Perhaps a season three is on the horizon, and I can start building my very own hero collection. Oh, did I forget to mention that Dice Thrones also offers an adventure game? I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m eagerly looking forward to diving into that too.
Seriously, guys, I can’t recommend this game enough. For the price of no more than £24, you get two characters in a box, and it’s worth every penny. Don’t just take my word for it—check out the link below and discover the world of Dice Thrones for yourselves. Trust me, you’ll have a blast.
