As I’m nearing the time to apply for my visa, I’ve noticed that people using agencies for help with the process get charged an absolute bomb. I can see why sometimes — the service can be worth it. But honestly, it’s relatively easy to do it yourself if you put enough research into it. Absolutely bonkers. Yet here I am, frugal as ever, hitting and hoping I’m heading in the right direction. I’m sure I’ll share my journey and point out what I would have done differently when I inevitably miss something or something unexpected pops up.
I didn’t even know seasonal work was a thing until I was 29 — where you can work in hospitality, get free accommodation (some places even include board), and snag a free skiing or mountain biking pass. If I’d known that was an option when I left school… Fuck, I would have jumped on it right away!
I experienced my first day of beating recently. For those who don’t know, in the UK, pheasants are looked after throughout the year, and during the shooting season, people are needed to help with the shoots. Beaters walk through the countryside with sticks to encourage the pheasants to fly up in the direction of the shooters. It was a great day! It started with a really foggy morning, so we couldn’t do much at first — the shooters wouldn’t have been able to see the birds. Other beaters got bored waiting for the fog to lift and started drinking. Honestly, I think I was beaten before I even started beating!
You can skip the struggle part! (Only this paragraph 😁)
The struggle. My mind feels zombified at the minute — no drive in me. I’ve got an income coming in, trying to decorate the house as and when I can, and I’m sticking with it, but I usually feel more proactive. I’m saving as much as possible, which means I’m not doing anything exciting. In fact, nothing at all. I caught up on Yellowstone, though. I don’t usually enjoy watching series because the endings tend to be so unimaginative. Buuuut, Yellowstone’s ending? Fucking awesome!!!
On the plus side, the Pi Network has FINALLY taken off! It’s now open to exchange, though it made a hell of a loss when it did. The IOU showed $80, only to drop down to $0.60. After four days, it crept up to $1.50 per Pi. I attempted to sell 700 Pi to speed up my working holiday visa process — only to find out I locked my Pi until the end of November this year 🤦🏼♂️. Hopefully, something good will come of it, and Pi Network will grow bigger and better than it already is.
